Pre-Investment: Identifying Winners

At the pre-investment stage, we focus on understanding the industry dynamics and market trends in the early technology adopter markets of Japan, Korea, and Taiwan. With this “preview” in our mind, we turn to our industry network partners in Northeast Asia to “identify” technology and product gaps that need to be filled.

Armed with this knowledge, we proactively pick candidate investments in each of our target sectors and “validate” these potential investments against the needs of our network partners. This allows us to gain substantial insight into the potential success of each of our portfolio companies.

Post-Investment: Enhancing Value

Our engagement with portfolio companies does not end with investment. We extend the relationships that were formed at the point of validation and create partnerships between the portfolio companies and Translink network partners.

Throughout this process, we take full advantage of our multi-cultural background to effectively “translate” how things work in multiple geographies. Each of our Managing Directors continues to interact directly with our portfolio companies to provide the crucial “link” necessary to establish a meaningful business relationship. To ensure that these relationships between portfolio companies and network partners are long lasting and mutually beneficial, our Venture Partners based in Korea and Japan provide the resources necessary to “sustain” valuable business partnerships.
